THE ART OF ORIGAMI: PARENT-CHILD VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. Students and parents will learn the foundations for creating fun paper sculpture works and further advance their techniques in origami. All supplies will be provided, including 10 sheets of large-scale paper and two John Montroll origami books.

Epic Origami was founded by Bonnie Cherni, a local Boulder resident. She engages a team of accomplished origami artists and innovative engineers to collaborate together to create fascinating origami exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include a 7.5 foot origami dragon install in front of Dairy Arts Center in Boulder, CO (2019), a full gallery installation at the Denver International Airport (2018), Waimea Ocean Film Festival (2015-2020), ‘lmiloa Astronomy Center (2015), Keck Observatory (2014), and Kahilu Theatre (2013).

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Art Base strives to provide scholarships to all students and families who demonstrate financial need. Our scholarship application form is available in both English and Spanish. MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS
To receive a discount on classes, you must be a member of the Art Base. Annual memberships to the Art Base start at $50. In addition to discounts on all workshops for you and your family, you will receive invitations to all opening receptions and art talks. Memberships expire one year from date of purchase.

 

WHAT TO BRING
Art supplies are provided for all Summer Art Camps. Please pack a lunch, water bottle and two snacks for your child. Please dress your child for mess, and bring a hat, and sunscreen, as we will be spending time outdoors.

 

REGISTRATION POLICY
To cancel a registration and receive a refund, notify us at least 10 days before the start of your workshop, we will refund your payment less a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 10 days of the start of the workshop. 

 

WAIVER/PHOTO RELEASE
Parents will complete a waiver/photo release on the first day of class. To print this out and complete ahead of time, please go to theartbase.com/education/summer art camps. Your child’s photo or video may be used by the Art Base, unless you otherwise specify on the waiver/release forms. Forms will be distributed prior to the start of the class or click here to download a fillable .pdf that you can complete and email to abby@theartbase.org.

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
Summer internships are offered for those entering 8th grade and beyond who are interested and committed to learning and working in the visual arts. Internships are individually designed to the meet the needs of the intern, the Art Base programs and the administration. Internship responsibilities include teaching assistance, event support, studio maintenance, administrative duties and independent projects. Successful candidates will have a passion for the arts and enjoy working with students of all ages.
