For Art Base members, these invite-only events present a unique opportunity to meet the artists in an intimate setting and have a glimpse into their creative mind. Join us as we learn about each artists’ art-making techniques and inspirations. We encourage guests to and ask questions about the artists’ work and process.

Art talks are appropriate for the whole family. The Colorado Creative industries explain that visual and verbal literacy are developed through active experiences with the visual arts that include questioning and dialogue, what it often called “Art Talk.”

Past art talk topics have included: printmaking demonstrations, gallery Q&As, healing with color, the business of art, women in art, and art and education.

Nicole Salcedo spoke Friday, Feb 21, 2020

Executive Director Genna Moe and interdisciplinary artist Nicole Salcedo in conversation about her new site-specific exhibition, Most Beloved.

Most Beloved features works on paper, fabric, and wallpaper that are each recorded acts of devotion to an unknowable but deeply cherished “Beloved”—the artist’s interpretation of the life-giving power within all things. With this body of work, Nicole explores the oscillation of energy between “Lover” and the “Beloved” through line work, repeated patterns and symbols.

Nicole Salcedo is currently an artist-in-residence at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado. Salcedo is one of 14 artists selected by Oolite Arts’ newest program, ‘Home + Away’, which offers Miami-Dade based artists opportunities to participate in some of the most important artist residencies in the country.

This exhibition is generously sponsored by Oolite Arts.
