TAB + Covid-19 | Measures and Protocol

Dear Art Base Extended Family,

The health and safety of our students, visitors, and staff is our top priority.

Referencing basic facts assembled by the leading experts on COVID-19, we have created a new set of best practices to be followed at the Art Base so we may best mitigate the risk of transmission and infection in our art classes for all ages and abilities.

As of today, class is still in session. We will be sure to contact you immediately regarding any future programming changes.  Information will be shared via email, on our blog, as well as on the Art Base facebook and Instagram. Questions may be directed to info@theartbase.org or you may call (970) 927-4123.  If you are not feeling well and need to cancel, full refunds for classes will be offered.

As of today, we encourage all healthy students to continue participating in Art Base activities with extra attentiveness to hand washing, sanitizing, and respiratory hygiene. If you are sick, stay home and please do not come to class. Those who are perceived to be ill will be asked to return home and health officials will be contacted. We have plans for how to identify persons who may be at risk, and support them, without inviting stigma and discrimination into our workplace.

We are actively monitoring the World Health Organization’s official guidance on the recent outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) and are following the lead of local and state officials, including the

Roaring Fork School District (RFSD),

Pitkin County Public Health, and

Garfield County Public Health (GCPHD).

In the event of increased emphasis on social distancing and potentially needing to temporarily suspend classes—know that we are working on a contingency plan to implement increased online offerings and “viral” art of some sort.

Though not ideal, these types of societal disturbances generate important art. We learned this from the fire two years ago. Visual art matters as a means to better understand ourselves and the world around us. Community art reinforces our inalienable connections to each other as the embodiment of understanding and progress centered on shared problems and solutions.

Thank you for your continued participation and support.

Keeping art near to our heart,

The Art Base Team
