Dear Art Base Friends and Family, Every day the Art Base is proud to welcome dozens of people from different families, schools, and communities to share in the alchemy of art. This being said, we do not take the risk of being a likely hub of COVID-19 transmission lightly. For this reason, and with a heavy heart, we are implementing a two-week class suspension and teleworking plan effective immediately. We will continue to update this plan as needed. Though there is a lot we do not know about the public health and even emotional impacts that are still evolving, what we do know is that during these times of societal disturbances, visual art matters. Art reinforces our inalienable connections to each other as the embodiment of understanding and progress centered on shared problems and solutions. During the Lake Christine Fire, we effectively provided important expressive arts therapy at relief shelters. We so badly want to serve our community in this way again, but social distancing efforts dictate that we think outside the box, demanding us to be both accountable and creative. We are excited to announce that we are channeling our energy into new online and correspondence initiatives. Initiatives Include: How to Follow the Art Base: As traditional classes are postponed, we ask you to kindly consider a credit or a donation as opposed to a refund. We must be realistic about the financial implications and the loss of earned income we are experiencing. Please support us as we continue to support you. The Art Base will need your help to get through this challenging time. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas as we try to keep the creativity alive in this this new and uncharted territory. We are so very grateful for your continued participation and support. We are dedicated to keeping you informed as well as inspired. — The Art Base Team |
