Learn about famous buildings around the world, draw and paint your own architectural designs, and build roller coasters, homes, and even mini-functional playground equipment. Incorporate the Elements of Art: line, shape, color, texture, form, and space, to create beautiful structures. Join this camp to find the architect that lies within YOU!

Water Creations

This week we dive deep into the elemental magic of water. By exploring water textures, how water moves, and the plants & animals that live in various types of water, we create our own unique aquatic creatures and their environments. Planets, Stars and Space

Art and Writing

In this fun filled and colorful art class, we explore ALL the elements in a creative practice. Campers find inspiration in creative writing, nature walks, Yoga, and music! Discover how play and movement can influence visual artwork, and create unique, brightly colored artworks as a class. Each day will be equally split by a little bit of exercise, a little bit of writing, a little bit of art-making, and a lot of creativity. Let’s throw in some neon!

Monumental Sculptures

This sculpture camp is perfect for any young artist interested in going BIG! A variety of techniques and materials are introduced with the goal of making large-scale, 3-dimentional artworks. Students are encouraged to have fun and explore different and sometimes unusual ways of working with tools and materials. By taking inspiration from great modern sculptors such as Louise Bourgeois and Richard Serra, students design, plan, and execute their pieces over four days with an exhibition at the end of the week.

The Story of the Forest

The forest ecosystems affected by the 2018 Lake Christine Fire have many stories to tell. Combining forest ecology and digital storytelling, focus on regeneration/recovery of the forest ecosystems and the underlying climate-related stories we have in this valley. Walk around the burn zones and collect footage of the forest two years after the fire to share through digital storytelling.

*To properly prepare for the class, participants must bring their own iPad, iPhone, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera. We expect that participants are familiar with their own device and bring it in a sturdy, protective case along with a charger. PLEASE make sure to have a video editor app downloaded on your device prior to class such as iMovie. A list of applications to download will be emailed in advance of the start date.

Fantasy & Magic

This week is all about fantasy, magic, mystical beings, & creative lands. Using our imaginations to construct eccentric worlds of our very own, we adventure through time and learn about dragons, unicorns, wizards, and other magical characters. Through sculpting, sketching, and painting, campers make these fantastic worlds come to life!

Food and Farmers: a photographic journey (overnight)

A collaboration with Aspen Center for Environmental Studies

Using the livestock, vegetables, and backdrop of Rock Bottom Ranch as your models learn what makes a good photograph and tell stories of the world around you. Tell the story of Regenerative Agriculture at the ranch from farm to table. This week will culminate with the opportunity for photographers to sleep over at the ranch on Thursday night and prepare a healthy, seasonal dish in the RBR kitchen or over the fire!

Using Natural Objects to Create Art

Welcome all nature enthusiasts! In this workshop, kids explore the many ways we can create art inspired by the natural world around us. Campers go on a variety of walks and collect small natural items to create beautiful artworks.  In addition, we learn the importance of taking small steps to be stewards of the land and how creativity can spread mindfulness.

Trash to Treasure

In this workshop, students learn how to transform disposable items into beautiful works of art. We use discarded materials and objects found in nature to create garden treasures, wall hangings, trinkets, and more! Kids learn how to limit the amount of garbage we throw away, find new uses for old things, and inspire others to do the same.

Animal Art

From black hogs to chickens, barn cats to donkeys, cows to ducks, and more—make new farmyard animal friends in this collaboration workshop with the Art Base at Rock Bottom Ranch. Learn about the different habits and behaviors of the ranch animals and wildlife, and creating unique mixed media representations of your favorite furry or feathered pal. Bring these animals to life by painting, sculpting, building and collaging. This workshop is for animal lovers only!  Prerequisite – Kids must have completed Kindergarten to attend this class.

Time Travel

Delve into the depths of time in this exciting workshop that investigates the past, present, and future. Students explore time travel-related concepts through 2D and 3D media, including painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture. Prepare traverse time in this workshop that inspires imaginative thinking and creative problem-solving.

SUPPLIES AND WHAT TO BRING
Art supplies are provided for all summer art camps. Please pack a lunch, water bottle and two snacks for your child. Dress your child for mess and have them bring a hat and sunscreen as we will be spending time outdoors.

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a registration. Cancellations within 48 hours of class start are subject to cancellation fees up to the total cost of registration.
