Explore, express, create! These classes are designed to be FUN, nurture creativity, and help prepare students for a future of successful problem solving and critical thinking. Using imagination and original ideas, students will be encouraged to explore new art materials and techniques and visually express themselves.
When registering your child or children, please note that there are limited spaces available for these free opportunities. In order to be able to share this opportunity with the entire community, please register for only one day of after-school art classes each month
SCULPTURE: DESIGNER HAUNTED HOUSES
October 5, 12, 19, & 26
Tuesdays, 3:45 – 5:30PM
1st-5th Grades, Ages 6 – 12
Starting with basic cardboard structures, paint and decorate with a variety of mixed media materials. When the house is complete, add the grounds around the houses and fill them with clay mummies, miniature pumpkins, black cats, and witches, and more. Sure to be a Spooktacular time!
MIXED MEDIA: CLAY AND PRINTING
October 6, 13, 20, & 27
1st-5th Grades, Ages 6-12
Explore fall through clay, printmaking, and 3D mobiles. Create a magical, spooky, or mystical mask using clay. Forage for leaves to print into clay, making leaf bowls and leave prints. Students will then use their leave prints to complete a 3D mobile.
A WALK THROUGH THE WOODS

Take a walk in the woods through art, creating forest creatures out of pinecones, felt, feathers, and patterned papers, with colors to make your 3D animals pop. We make owls, foxes, porcupines, gnomes, and of course fairies to place in our enchanted woodland worlds.

Inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh and David Hockney, paint your very own whimsical, colorful landscape masterpiece! Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most influential artists in Western Art History and is known for using specific markings and bold colors to create beautiful landscapes and nature paintings. David Hockney is 1960’s English artist, who shared a love of nature with Van Gogh, took on his style and created his own modern funky, bold, colorful landscapes. Students will build up their creative skillset with drawings, watercolors, and then a big, bold acrylic painting on canvas.
PICK UP AT BASALT ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS (After-school classes)
Students attending Basalt Elementary or Middle School will meet at the elementary school flagpole after school to walk over to the Art Base with an Art Base staff member. The Aspen Community School and Aspen Country Day buses drop off in front of or very near, the old location of the Art Base. If arranged an Art Base staff member can meet your child at the bus.
